Driving Rules Learnt in School You Cannot Afford to Forget
Ever wondered why there are some things in life that you are bound to forget within a day or two, while there are some other things that you would remember even after 60 years in your life? Sounds incredible? Well picture this. You happened to exchange cell phone numbers with a new friend or a colleague just yesterday. Sure, you glanced down at his business card, didn’t you? Then why can’t you seem to remember the number? Now, try remembering the English alphabet, or your favorite nursery rhyme, and pat will come your reply. In fact, I bet one can recite those freshly woken up from sleep.
So what really causes this difference? It is all about the basics. The better the basics are driven into your skull by sheer hours of practice in school, the better you would retain it for life. Not just any school, be it sniper school or driving school, adequate attention, training and practice is a must to get the fundamental lessons drilled into your system. It becomes more imperative to pay complete attention in the case of a driving school because what you learn there as basics might finally come to manifest itself as the difference between life and death; minor injuries and severe casualties, or much worse, fatalities. Hence, it is of paramount significance that you pay attention to all that you are taught at the driving school, no matter how boring or mundane it might seem at the time.
A little knowledge that you have gained in of those dull driving lectures about the vehicle, its safety features or some on road protocol while being stranded could go a long, long way in saving someone’s (could be your own to) life. Always remember, the basics matter the most, so it does not matter if you do not know the BHP rating or other statistics of a Ferrari 360 GT, but it indeed matters to know about basic universal road signs and universal distress calls.
Also, bear in mind that though most driving lessons are universally applicable, some of them are local to regions and in fact, many of them change drastically from place to place. The same make of a car will demand right hand driving in India or the UK while it will call for left hand driving in the US and the rest of Europe. Hence a deep and thorough understanding is required of basic driving lessons, which again underlines the importance of driving schools.
